Let's Flamingle: A Retro Flamingo Themed Party
I had the greatest of pleasures bringing this function from concept to the final product for a client who knew what she wanted. All the stress of planning a function removed but every detail taken care of and sorted.
The client came with a list of desirables which was to hold a lunch in the private dining rooms at Scratchleys, fun theme, tropical, colourful, flamingos, gold, glamour, cocktails with amazing food and matching wines. The room to look spectacular and tables to be set beautifully, but to also have appeal to the kids as well, fabulous cake, surprises for the kids of ranging ages. I was given a copy of the birthday invite and the list of desirables and the ideas were born.
The key to this was to make sure that all attending adults enjoyed their time celebrating the host’s birthday and for the kids to not be bored.
After the first meeting a concept was presented to the client, after consultation and fine tuning, quotes obtain and approvals to go ahead.
Concept images to help build the story board all build around the invitation.
The area was divided into separate zones but all elements were to blend and not overtake the other. The elements of fun and to suit the kids attending was achieved by addressing their area with a balloon install to bring colour and fun into this zone the installation was placed on the wall over kids play area, the play area came with child care workers to look after the needs of the kids during the lunch and to give their parents an opportunity to enjoy their lunch, company and time at this function.
Added to this area was a kids table set with paper table cloth to draw on, pencils, pineapple cups, flamingo toy and a little box of jelly beans all this added to the colour and themes to the day.
The adults’ end of this space was set with elegant metal stands in gold with amazing bountiful tropical greenery highlighted with White Phalaenopsis Orchids and Flamingo coloured Antherium heads. These stands were used on the table to give the feeling of height to the space and to allow the view not to be obstructed and dotted around the room on the floor with flamingos and on the cake table to give that welcoming feel to the room and set the tone of complete elegance and glamour as you walked in.
A Phalaenopsis orchid head was placed on each napkin and gold pineapple ornaments help bring the richness off gold to the forefront of the styling along with tying in elements of fun for the kids to stylish for the adults.
The end result was the client and family were overwhelmed by the elegance on entering the room, and surprised at how the beautiful the accompanying area of the kids zone blended with the Adults zone. The added extra detail of child minding meant the kids were never bored or wanting for attention.
